Q: I’m a new agent, what courses should I take first?
A: Our courses are designed to stand alone and may be taken in any order.
However, our suggested order for new agents is as follows:

Core Courses

1. Member Orientation – No CE
2. Matrix Basics: Searching & Sharing Property Information – 3 CE
3. Matrix CMAs: Using CMAs & Statistics to Determine Market Value – 3 CE
4. Servicing Buyers and Sellers in Today's Market – 3 CE
5. Remine Docs+: Power Tool for Transaction Management – 3 CE

When you get a listing

1. Matrix Add/Edit (Self-Paced) – No CE
2. Ocusell Webinar & FAQ (Self-Paced) – No CE
3. ShowingTime: Simplify Your Showings (Live/Self-Paced) – 3 CE

Q: Is FMLS Member Orientation only for new members?
A: This is a great question! While it is certainly beneficial for new members, we find that it is helpful for brokerages and agents to complete FMLS Member Orientation once a year. This helps them stay knowledgeable of all FMLS updates!

For convenience, we offer FMLS Member Orientation in both a live and a self-paced option. Our live Zoom FMLS Member Orientation is generally held the first and third Monday of each month. Our self-paced FMLS Member Orientation is available 24/7.

Q: I’m an experienced agent. Do I have to start with the Matrix Basics course? I’m afraid it will be too basic for me.
A: Time and time again, the feedback we receive from experienced agents upon completion of this course is, “Wow! I never realized how much was out there to help me that I didn’t know about.” There is no enforced pre-requisite, but even an experienced agent will benefit from taking the Matrix Basics course as it covers many of the new Matrix upgrades and lesser known, but extremely helpful features and shortcuts available to you in Matrix.

Q: Are there any required prerequisites before I can attend a specific FMLS course?
A: While we do not enforce a pre-requisite requirement for any of our courses, we strongly recommend that the Matrix courses be taken in the recommended order. Each of these courses builds on the functionality learned in the previous course, so to get the most out of each session, it is in your best interest to complete them all and in sequence.

The recommended sequence is as follows:

1. Matrix Basics: Searching and Sharing Property Information
2. Matrix: Working with Clients and OneHome
3. Matrix CMAs: Using CMAs & Statistics to Determine Market Value
4. Matrix Advanced: Market Analysis Tools and Customization Features

Q: How do I register for an FMLS training course?
A: You can register online by logging into www.firstmls.com, logging into the dashboard, clicking on Training, and then clicking on Find A Course. Next, scroll through the list for a date, time, and course you’d like to take. Click on the course name, and then click once on the Register for this Course button*.

Note: If you click twice, you will register and then unregister yourself.

Q: What if I'm too busy or can't attend live Zoom training?
A: Some of our CE and non-CE courses are available on demand at https://learn.fmls.com/. Please check the catalog there for the latest offerings. These classes are pre-recorded and can be taken at any time, paused, and resumed at your own pace.

Please note that the three-hour CE courses consist of three hours of instruction that cannot be skipped, as well as periodic exams that must be passed for CE credit eligibility.

Q: What about in-person training?
A: Our Member Services Team offers non-CE training opportunities in-person on a regular basis for our member brokerages, and partner associations and boards. Our 2026 non-CE, in-person course catalog includes the following microlearning courses:

  • AI Essentials for FMLS Agents: A One-Hour Microlearning Session

You may book in-person or virtual non-CE opportunities directly with our Member Services Team at memberservicesteam@fmls.com.

Q: Do you offer in-person CE training?
A: As a result of our annual training survey and in-person attendance, we no longer offer in-person CE training at our FMLS Service Centers. We often partner with local boards and associations for in-person training, so make sure you check with your local board or association for their training opportunities. Otherwise, make sure to visit training.fmls.com for all our free CE opportunities available as a member benefit.

Q: Do you offer private in-office CE training?
A: Due to the demand for our live training via Zoom, private in-office CE training is offered on a limited basis. With advance planning we can offer in-office CE training up to once per quarter per brokerage office with a minimum guaranteed attendance of 15 or more. Requests for private in-office training must be made by the Broker or Office Manager and should be directed to the FMLS Private Course Request form.

Q: What should I do if I need to cancel my course registration?
A: Browse to www.firstmls.com, log in and navigate to Training. Once in the Training dashboard, click on My Courses in the top navigation bar, or on the My FMLS Courses icon. Select the course you signed up for in the list and click on the course name link. Beneath the Course Description there is a link: 'Click here to unregister'. Simply click the link to cancel your course registration.

Q: What if I can’t come to a course and I forget to cancel my registration? Is there a no-show charge?
A: As a courtesy to others that may be interested in attending that course, we prefer that you cancel/withdraw your registration online whenever possible (as it will open a spot for another member). However, we understand that things come up often at the last minute. For that reason, there is no penalty or charge for no-show students. If it is habitual, we will reach out and encourage you to be much more intentional about registering for your learning opportunities.

Q: What is the attendance policy for continuing education courses?
A: For further information on our Institute’s policies, please visit our FMLS Institute of Real Estate School Policy on the training page.

Q: How often can I take the same course for CE credit?
A: A licensee who has successfully completed an approved course to meet continuing education credit may not repeat that course for CE credit unless at least one full year has passed. The course may be repeated on the 366th day to receive credit.

Q: I attended a course, but it still shows me as registered.
A: You will show as registered until attendance has been submitted. The FMLS Institute of Real Estate will process courses within two weeks of attendance (10 business days). Generally, we have a much quicker turnaround time.

Q: I cannot remember which course I signed up for, is there a way to check?
A: Yes, go to www.firstmls.com, sign in, and navigate to Training. From the Training dashboard, click on My Courses in the top navigation bar, or on the My FMLS Courses icon. A list of registered courses that you have not attended appears at the top of the list.

Q: How many CE hours does GREC require?
A: All individuals who hold an active real estate license and whose license number is above 100,000 are required to complete 36 hours of Commission approved continuing education during each four (4) year renewal period including 3 hours on the topic of License Law. If your license number is less than 100,000 you are not required to complete continuing education for renewal. You can find out more and check your CE at GREC.

Q: What courses are approved in Alabama?
A: Our self-paced courses are all approved in Alabama.

Q: Does FMLS offer an ethics course?
A: No. FMLS offers CE courses that support the member's knowledge and use of the products and benefits offered through FMLS. We are happy to point you to our partner, Atlanta Realtor’s School of Real Estate for your Code of Ethics course needs.

Q: Does FMLS offer a license law course?
A: The FMLS Institute of Real Estate does not train on License Law. We recommend The Georgia Real Estate Commission School as a provider. The License Law Requirement course with the Georgia Real Estate Commission is $10.
