FMLS Institute of Real Estate Policies
A shortened “Top 5 Things to Know Before a Continuing Education Course” version of the FMLS Institute of Real Estate will be covered at the start of each Continuing Education (CE) course.
Top 5 Things to Know Before a Live CE Course- Arrive on time – more than 10 minutes late = no CE
- Cameras ON and face visible entire time during Live Zoom CE Courses
- No leaving early – no partial credit.
- Register and cancel properly for accurate attendance.
- You must be personally present on Zoom and/or in person– no driving, no multitasking.
The full policy and procedure of the FMLS Institute of Real Estate may be found below.
- Arrive on Time - Regardless of whether you are attending live in-person or a live Zoom course session, you must be on time to be eligible for CE. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be eligible for CE credit.
-
Live Zoom Attendance - The FMLS registration system records attendance and the Zoom software records the courses.
Webcam use is required; you must be on camera for the entire duration of the course and
demonstrate attentiveness. Screenshots are taken throughout the course and submitted for CE processing.
Do not leave early—early departures result in no earned credit.
Note: Course recordings are not shared with students but are kept per the Georgia Real Estate Commission Guidelines.
In-person Attendance - Our in-person CE courses require attendees to sign in via the attendance roster at the beginning of the session with your name and time of arrival. In-person courses also require the completion of the FMLS Institute of Real Estate Training Affidavit to be submitted at the end of the course
Note: Please use your full name on the Training Affidavit as initials are not accepted per GREC guidelines. Do not leave early from any live in-person or live Zoom course. Early departures from a CE course will result in no earned credit.
- Respect Instructors and Peers - We ask that interruptions be kept to a minimum during both our live in-person and our live Zoom courses. Our 3 Hour CE courses include a mid-course break to attend to phone calls or other situations as they arise. We allow up to five minutes of missed course time per CE course to allow participants to attend an urgent situation. If you are unable to attend and be engaged in the course content for the duration of the course, you may register for another session and complete the course at that time.
- Ask Questions and Take Notes- We encourage participants to ask questions related to the course material. Your instructor will determine which questions are pertinent to the material and will be happy to answer other questions at breaks or after the course.
- Active Participation - Our live in-person and live Zoom courses encourage hands-on participation. Additionally, our courses are designed to meet the pace of the general membership of FMLS. If you are not technically qualified, we may not be able to stop the course to adjust pacing. We have to complete the course agenda in the time allocated.
-
Additional Guidelines:
- We do not allow children or pets in an in-person learning environment. Service dogs, of course, are permissible.
- Profanity is not tolerated, or allowed, in our live in-person or live Zoom environments
- Keep your place in the in-person environment tidy by cleaning up any tissues, drinks or other materials when you leave the course session.
All FMLS courses are free to all our members who have their own, active FMLS username and password. Students should make every effort to attend the courses that they have registered for; however, if you know in advance that you will be unable to attend, you are expected to unregister yourself from that course to allow another fellow student the opportunity to sign up for that particular course. To unregister:
- Log in to firstmls.com.
- Go to Go to Training and My Courses..
- Click on the course you wish to unregister from under the "You are registered for the following upcoming course(s)" section.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the blue "Click here to unregister" link. Members who repeatedly register and do not attend and/or unregister may be temporarily blocked from the ability to register. Excessive abuse of course registration will result in a call to Broker/Office Management and/or forfeiture of FMLS courses.
Every effort is made to conduct courses as scheduled; however, there are times when courses must be canceled due to extenuating circumstances such as inclement weather conditions or other emergencies. We will attempt to email you about any unforeseen cancellations.
